A Musical Celebration, BOS Musical Company, Barrington Theatre, Ferndown

BOS has, on its own admission, had its share of ups and downs over the years - but it's still here, and celebrating its 40th anniversary with this thoroughly enjoyable concert.

The production team of Rebecca Tripp, Stuart Darling (musical director par excellence) and Martha Jenkins (choreographer) proved to be a match made in heaven and took the company to new heights.

Staging was imaginative and there were smooth entrances and exits, plus incredibly good singing and slick choreography. And - always a big plus in my book - everyone on stage, from the more mature down to six very talented children, looked to be having the time of their lives.

The band was first-rate too, and provided a fine accompaniment to songs from popular musicals such as Oliver, Half a Sixpence, Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera and Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat to less well-known but equ-ally enjoyable numbers.

The company has a good balance of youth and experience that augurs well for the future, so here's to the next 40 years.
