A BOURNEMOUTH author who has written a book based in Southbourne has donated copies to hospitals and charity shops in the area.
Lorna Child, a former care home worker for eight years, has written a children’s book entitled ‘Happy Ever Afters’ and published by Austin Macauley Publishers.
The book is set in the Southbourne area and features shops such as the Tenovus Cancer Care charity shop.
She said: “In the story, a boy finds a magical book in a charity shop, which is Tenovus charity shop on Southbourne Grove. So, I have given the shop a limited edition copy of my book to keep in their shop, just like in my story.
“I’ve spoken to the charity, and they are very excited. I also said that if they sold any of my books, I would donate a percentage of the sales to them. This is under negotiation at the moment.
“I’ve also donated four copies of my book, and lots of bookmarks to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.”
Born in Scotland, Lorna moved to Southbourne when she was seven. The now mother of five has always had a passion for writing and is also delving into the world of film, having written a horror story that is about to be filmed.
Lorna added: “I’ve also started a film school in Boscombe called UK Film Academy, where I’m teaching children how to write stories, direct films and act but, most of all have fun, make friends and increase their confidence.”
