A CAR collided with a lamppost on Monday evening, bringing a power line down and blocking a road.
The accident happened just 200 yards from the site of a crash which last month claimed the lives of two men.
The single vehicle crash happened at around 4.50pm near the Cross Keys Inn at Mannington near Wimborne.
Inn landlady Viv Howard said her pub still had power but the drama unfolded just hours before the premises held its firework night.
Traffic diversions were set up by police and a team of engineers was sent to the scene.
A Southern Electric spokesman said one of their lines had been brought down by the crash but customers had not been affected by power cuts.
A neighbour who heard a bang after the car struck the lamppost said the driver of the white Mazda involved was lucky to be alive.
"She is all right but the car is a write-off," he told the Daily Echo.
Residents in neighbouring homes are renewing their calls for a 40mph speed limit to be imposed on the twisting road, which is currently a 60mph zone.
The accident happened just 200 yards from where a car struck a tree in October. The vehicle burst into flames, killing the 18-year-old driver Matthew Russell and his passenger Simon Lord, 39.
A third person in the car escaped with minor injuries.
