TOURISM officials say there will NOT be fireworks in Bournemouth tonight – after a fake Facebook page advertising the event was set up.
Thousands of people have 'liked' the fake page, although no information actually appears on it.
Instead, those who follow the page are asked to click an 'interested' button to find out more about 'Bournemouth's final party of 2019'.
In a social media post, Bournemouth tourism bosses have said: "We have been made aware of a Facebook event called 'NYE 2019 – Bournemouth' that has an image of fireworks at Bournemouth Pier and no actual details at all.
"This has been set up by a rogue and anonymous Facebook page.
"It has caused confusion to some people as to whether fireworks are happening this evening.
"To confirm, there are no fireworks planned for New Year's Eve tonight."
