A BOURNEMOUTH cafe and bar is back on the market – less than a year after it sold to new owners.
Flirt Cafe in The Triangle is on the market again priced at £99,950.
It comes just months after Adam Jackson and Michael Gelardi bought the assets of the business out of administration for around £26,000. The pair took a new ten-year lease.
Current directors of the business, as listed on Companies House, are Mr Gelardi and Stephen McManus.
Mr McManus was the events promoter behind the cancelled Olly Murs concert, which was initially due to take place at King's Park in Boscombe in 2017.
Previously, the venue was owned by Shaan Hussain for around 18 months. Mr Hussain previously told the Daily Echo he'd been losing money on the business.
According to an online advert for the business, Flirt's next rent review isn't due until 2024.
The cafe offers 150 covers and is licensed to sell alcohol.
Trading hours are between 9am and 11pm seven days a week. Three full-time members of staff are employed by Flirt, together with a pool of part-time staff.
According to the advertisement, accounting information in respect of the current financial year forecasts sales of around £465,000, excluding VAT.
The £99,950 cost will include leases, goodwill, fixtures, fitting and equipment, plus stock at valuation.
Flirt was started in 2011 by Rob Hazell and Peter Moody, who had run the cafe bar Legend in Bourne Avenue before going on to found the Shakeaway chain.
The success of the venue, in the space under Bournemouth Library, was credited with helping rejuvenate the area, with Starbucks subsequently moving in a few doors away.
In December 2018, Flirt closed suddenly for two days, with a sign on the door warning: “These premises have today been seized on the authority of the landlord.”
But the notice was addressed to Flirt Cafe Bar at 15 The Triangle – another premises which the business was using for storage. Mr Hussain said the debt collectors had confused the cafe with the storage unit, on which he had been withholding rent because of a dispute.
