PAUL Jones (Bournemouth Jubilee Wheelers) completed a successful season by winning his final race of the year.
Jones won the Whiteways Hill Climb event in a time of eight mintues and 22 seconds from Max Baldock (Poole Wheelers) who was just two seconds behind.
The Bournemouth Jubilee trio of Andy Graham, John O'Brien and Mark Moss rounded out the top five with Graham taking the overall winner's award from O'Brien by three points. Jubilee also took the team prize.
Further afield, Mark Perry (Bournemouth Arrow CC) rode to a creditable 19th place in the National Hill Climb competition, held this year at Cheddar Gorge.
Perry clocked a time of seven minutes and 33 seconds behind James Dobbin (Arctic Shorter Rochford RT) who recorded his second successive win with a time of six minutes and 51 seconds.
COUCH IS SOFA SO GOOD
DAVID Couch (Bournemouth Arrow CC) won two races in the opening event of the annual Calshot Winter Track League. Couch took the handicap and the scratch races for under-12s while older brother William was also in action in the under-16s, being placed in both the warm-up and sprint races.
ANNUAL MEETING
POOLE Wheelers Cycling Club's annual meeting takes place tonight at the Seaview Hotel, Upper Parkstone, at 7.30pm. As well as the usual elections of club officers, members will also be voting for voting for the Club Person of the Year award. The meeting is to be followed by a buffet and skittles competition.
RELIABILITY TRIALS
THE first event of Bournemouth Jubilee's series of reliability trials is on Sunday with the 50-mile event. The start is at Merley Community Centre from 9am.
