BRITAIN'S oldest woman, who lives in Poole, has reached the age of 112.

Joan Hocquard is celebrating her birthday on the same day as the world's oldest man, Bob Weighton, from Alton, Hampshire, reaches the same milestone today – making the pair the joint oldest people in the United Kingdom.

She became the oldest living female in the UK following the death of 111-year-old Hilda Clulow on Christmas Eve last year.

Mr Weighton said: "I don't know Joan but I would like to send her my best wishes for her birthday."
