A RIDER suffered a broken collar bone after falling from her horse as it was chased by out of control dogs.

Now police have appealed for information in a bid to track down the owner of two Bernese Mountain-type dogs.

At around 10.05am on Wednesday February 19 a woman aged in her 20s and her mother were riding horses along a track between the Avon Causeway and Hurn Bridge Sports Club when they came across a man with two dogs off the lead.

The dogs were described as a fluffy black and brown Bernese Mountain-type dogs.

The dogs ran toward the horses and chased them, causing the younger woman’s horse to trip. The rider fell to the ground and sustained a broken collar bone.

The dogs’ owner took the injured woman to hospital and waited with her but she did not get his details and he left when she was called in to receive treatment.

Police Community Support Investigator Steve Willis, of East Dorset police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and I am keen to speak to the owner of the dogs involved so I can get an account from him as we make enquiries to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

“I would urge him to come forward and would also like to hear from anyone with information as to his identity.”
