LOCAL personal trainer Sean Burgess has taken to Youtube to provide free exercise classes amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Usually based at The Junction in Broadstone or the YMCA gym in Bournemouth, Sean has had to adapt his working life since the temporary closures of all gyms and leisure centres.
He initially started his online videos to support his clients but has enjoyed branching out into new territory.
Sean explained: "Prior to the coronavirus outbreak, I never had time to navigate being online properly. The virus forced me to be proactive and add my own blueprint.
"I want to give something back to people. It sounds cheesy but it's true."
The videos are important to Sean not only because it's a new and exciting venture, but also because it helps to keep his clients engaged and motivated during this challenging time.
Sean said: "I've got my clients' backs and I am here to help them as much as possible during the pandemic."
Creating and producing 30 minute videos everyday is no mean feat and has put Sean's creative mind to the test.
Planning, precision and ensuring no exercises are repeated in a short space of time were crucial aspects in the creation of Sean's online workout sessions.
Sean explained the process: "I opened up Excel and did a brain dump on a sheet. There were plenty of exercise variations, and by the time I had written all of my ideas down, there were over 600 different exercises. I then narrowed them down to have a good structure, no one wants to do five days of squats!
"I included a variation of movements and targets for muscle groups."
Four weeks of exercises have been planned, but with the growing risk surrounding the pandemic, it is likely that Sean will provide more online videos for people to enjoy while in isolation.
Sean said: "If we are still in the same situation in the future, then there will be more videos, no doubt about it. We would love to try and do workouts with an audience to increase participation.
"After coronavirus, I will definitely continue using my Youtube. It's going well and I am considering it as a long-term plan."
