NEARLY 3,000 homes were temporarily without power due a fault on the SSE network in West Moors last night.
Most were affected for a few minutes but around 200 customers were without power for nine hours.
The fault developed at 7.20pm and affected 2,688 customers for a few minutes. By 8.20pm 200 homes in and around Station Road and The Avenue were still affected.
The power was restored to all homes by 4.30am today and engineers are now working to establish the cause of the fault.
A spokesperson from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks said: "We would like to apologise to our customers who were affected by this power cut and assure everyone that our teams did all they could to restore supplies as safely and as quickly as possible."
