Wouldn't it be nice if sometimes the newspapers and television broadcasts were filled with good news?

What with tragedy on the roads, tougher action against terrorism, teenage bodies found in the back yard of a house in Margate, it would be nice to find something fun to talk about.

Luckily, a quick scan through this week's Daily Echo revealed some nice news...

  • A huge and beautiful moth that is believed to be from India was found in Bournemouth.

It has a five inch wingspan and its wings have curved extensions, which make it look like it has a swallow's tail.

Winton resident Ray Coggins noticed it on grass outside a doctor's surgery in Alma Road.

  • Crazy Poole caped crusader Dan Winwood, 36, and trusty sidekick Jon Clayton, 37, have just returned after traversing the country in a Trotter van.

Having bought the replica Reliant from internet auction site eBay, the pair flew to Edinburgh to pick it up and drove it 450 miles back to Poole.

And doing it in Batman and Robin regalia, in tribute to a famous episode of Only Fools and Horses, was all to win a £5 bet from their friend Michelle.

  • An amazing 190-million-year-old fossil unearthed on the Jurassic Coast is being displayed in Purbeck.

The stunning relic of an ichthyosaur, found near Charmouth, arrived at Wareham Library yesterday and visits Swanage Library on Thursday, December 6.

Discovered by Dr Paul Davis from London's Natural History Museum two and a half years ago, the fossil of the ancient marine reptile normally resides as part of the museum's collection.

But it's not just here in Dorset where the good news is.
