WE are living through a crisis like nothing that we have experienced in our lifetimes and hopefully will never again.
Quite rightly numerous persons and occupations are being described as heroes which I can only fully endorse.
I have read quite a great deal of the impact that the lockdown can potentially have on those observing it. I think this is very true and the longer the lockdown goes on the harder it will be for numerous people causing mental health issues in quite a few.
For those of us who already have such issues this lockdown only makes our situation worse.
Now I know that there are plenty of charities which can help personally I’ve found the Samaritans very helpful.
However I am extremely fortunate in having ongoing treatment with the East Dorset Community Mental Health Team, who I have found excellent. Specifically Dr’s Winward and Karadimova who do a superb job.
These mental health workers are the unsung heroes who rarely get a mention. However their skill and expertise are needed more than ever as this crisis moves forward.
Please keep these clinicians in your thoughts as they are helping other heroes who are already in our thoughts.
