THE popular Loverocks festival has been postponed due to the coronavirus crisis.
Loverocks was due to take place at St Leonards Farm Caravan and Camping Park on the first weekend in June.
Running for four years, the rock and blues festival usually attracts around 500 people per day and features a mix of established artists and up-and-coming local bands.
Organisers decided to postpone the event until later this year - or possibly 2021 - after lengthy discussions and adherence to government advice.
Jim Love, one of the festival organisers, said: "After a number of internal discussions and consideration of government advice, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone Loverocks in June 2020, until later this year, or 2021. This decision has been taken purely for the health and safety of our fans, musicians, suppliers and staff - all of whom are of paramount importance to us.
“This is disappointing news, especially in the year we have assembled such an amazing bill of all-original artists and had already sold well over half the tickets. However, Loverocks will take place at a later date, either later in the year or possibly in 2021, whenever it is safe to do so.
“We hope that by making this decision, we are doing our part in preventing the spread of this virus and helping us all return to normal life as quickly as possible.”
Organisers hope the line-up, wich was due to include the Kris Barras Band, Bad Touch and King Creature, will remain the same when the event is rescheduled.
Simon Jones added: " We are discussing with all the artists about rolling their set over to the rescheduled dates, as we are hopeful they will all still want to play at Loverocks Festival.
"We will honour our commitment to them and will, where possible, liaise with our fellow promoters to minimise any clashes on the new dates. Tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled festival dates once they have been confirmed, or a refund will be provided for those who are unable to attend.
And Scott Jones said: "Please keep supporting all the Loverocks artists past, present and future and music generally in any way you can. Stay safe and keep rocking."
