A DRIVER travelling more than 100 miles from Hertfordshire "to see Durdle Door for the evening" was sent packing before he reached his destination.
Police stopped a vehicle on the A31 yesterday and issued a ticket before escorting it out of Dorset.
Officers from the Dorset Police No Excuse team stopped a total of 90 vehicles around the A31 Ferndown and A338 Spur Road area.
One was found to be without insurance and the driver, from Southampton, claimed to be travelling to Dorset to sort out an insurance policy.
A ticket was issued and the vehicle seized and a No Excuse spokesman said: "You can't drive to Liverpool Victoria to take out insurance."
The occupant of a vehicle seen travelling at speed said he had travelled from Rotherham to see his girlfriend - he was sent back to Rotherham.
A Poole driver received a ticket for having no insurance.
