TWO drivers from London were stopped by police in Dorset for breaching coronavirus regulations – including one who had travelled to view a house as he "doesn't like" the capital anymore.
Officers from the Dorset Police No Excuse Team reported the motorist and sent him back to London with strong words of advice.
Police were also reportedly drawn to a second vehicle when the passenger threw some rubbish out of the car window in Turbary Park Avenue, Bournemouth.
The driver had travelled from Enfield on Tuesday morning and picked up his friend in Bournemouth before heading to the recovery compound to collect his friends car which had been seized last week, it was reported.
An officer said the driver had told them he had already been reported by the Met Police for breaching the COVID-19 regulations.
"Then believe it or not this vehicle was found not to have road tax and insurance," the officer said.
"The vehicle was also in a bad condition. Vehicle seized driver reported for driving offences and the second COVID 19 fine £120.
"This driver and his mate then went to GRS to collect this other car which was not released as they hadn't attended the police station first to get the seizure notice stamped. They also state they've just paid £150 for a days insurance cover on this other car and now they can't collect it."
Police reported that another friend was collecting the pair to drive them back to London.
Over the weekend, GRS, who carry out recoveries for police in Poole and Bournemouth, reported their busiest weekend in three years, with 37 vehicles seized by the force.
On Tuesday, another vehicle was dealt with for dangerous front tyres, with the metal cord showing on both.
An officer said: "The driver tried saying they had changed them recently. The MOT advisory from August 2019 read differently. The driver soon changed her account and was reported."
Part of the team are heading to the main roads into Dorset this morning.
However already on the way one vehicle has already been dealt with for dangerous front tyres.
The metal cord was showing on both.
