A MAN is assisting police in their inquiries following a CCTV appeal in relation to an investigation into a sexual assault in Christchurch.

Police had issued a public appeal following the incident, which took place in an alleyway off High Street last month.

It was reported that at around 2am on Sunday, March 15, the victim – a 19-year-old woman –was approached by a man as she walked down High Street near to the Regent Cinema.

They walked together down an alleyway by Kelley’s Kitchen, where she was reportedly sexually assaulted.

Providing an update on Tuesday, April 14, a Dorset Police spokesperson said following a CCTV appeal, a man has come forward and is assisting officers with their investigation.

No arrests have been made at this stage.
