TRIBUTES have been paid to a Poole councillor who has died in hospital.
Mike Fisher, who was the first UKIP councillor elected to Borough of Poole in 2015, died at Poole Hospital on April 4.
The Royal Navy veteran served the Alderney ward from 2015 until 2019.
He was also founding member, committee member and active campaigner in the local UKIP branch and stood as a candidate in local elections.
Along with his wife he was a diligent collector for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
UKIP Cllr Diana Butler and UKIP branch chairman John Butler said: "He attended meetings, served on committees and helped many residents - including regular practical help and advice at the Alderney allotments.
"He was a founder member of Poole Harbour Association , taking great interest in the port and local fishing.
"We pay tribute to Mike, who embodied the values of self reliance, hard work and commitment to others.
"We will remember him with admiration and gratitude for his common sense, determination, loyalty to Queen and country, modesty and great sense of humour."
