WILDLIFE enthusiasts can still appreciate nature without breaking any of the isolation guidelines by watching live streams of animals from their homes.
Bournemouth Parks Foundation are streaming live footage of a Heron’s nest from Hengistbury Head featuring a four-week-old chick.
Each day the Heron parent hunts fish and delivers the catch to the baby chick, all streamed live so people can watch from the safety of their homes during the lockdown.
Mark Holloway, Trustee of Bournemouth Parks Foundation, said: “We’ve seen some amazing footage over the past four weeks: the egg laying, hatching and feeding, and it won’t be long until the chick fledges the nest.
“As the season progresses, probably from mid-May, we hope to bring you nesting Blue Tits with their frenzied feeding of up to eight young, followed by our Kestrels which in 2019 brought us some stunning images of this ferocious predator.
“We have the potential to stream from our Tawny Owl cam too – depending on whether there is any activity this year.
Courtesy of donations to its wildlife cam campaign, Bournemouth Parks Foundation plan to live stream a variety of wildlife over the forthcoming months.
Mark added: “This live stream is made possible by the kind donations from our community. Keeping cameras working in the hostile environment of gales, driving rain and salty sea spray is expensive.
“This year we are raising funds to add more live streams for 2021.”
