A SCOUT group is appealing for the public's help to track down two people who were captured on CCTV carrying out a blatant theft from outside their hall.
A man and woman can be seen in the footage stealing two planters from 3rd Poole Sea Scouts' base in West Quay Road.
The brazen theft took place shortly after 5pm on Sunday, April 12, and a police investigation is underway.
Mark Hockey, chairman of 3rd Poole Sea Scouts, said: "We are a local community voluntary group, these planters were recently bought with a donation from a local resident and planted by the kids in the group.
"It is sad that some people feel they are entitled to help themselves to other people’s property. No community spirit.
"If any one has details please contact the group in confidence.”
The scout group has shared the CCTV images on social media, with more than three thousand people sharing the post.
Anthony Dakin, group leader of 3rd Poole Sea Scouts, added: "The whole hall has been refurbished over the past three years. We have had quite a big project going on doing that.
"The money for the planters was donated by a local lady, who has lived in the area all her life.
"She has never been linked to the group but she walks past our hall quite regularly and saw we had a plea for help outside at the time, so she donated £100 to help towards and we put it towards all the planters we have outside.
"We have had them out there for around a year."
Discussing the theft, Mr Dakin added: "It looks quite opportunistic. They came up from Asda and they walk past, look at them, stand around for a couple of minutes and then grab them and go.
"It is disappointing because the kids put quite a lot of work in to make it look nice and the kids helped plant them out.
"I am amazed how far the Facebook post has gone. It has been shared far and wide and people have got in touch.
A Dorset Police spokeswoman said: "It was reported to police at 6.03pm on Thursday, April 16, that two planter pots had been stolen from outside Poole Sea Scouts on West Quay Road.
"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."
