STAFF at Burton Primary School have been helping to spread some cheer to their students in isolation with a dancing video.

After seeing mash-up videos online, one of our teachers, Sarah Colbourne, decided the school should make one too, and 26 teachers and members of staff videoed themselves dancing along to S Club 7 hit ‘Reach’.

The video was put together by Max Otton, the teenage son of one of the teachers, and was uploaded to the school’s website on Tuesday April 14.

Headteacher of Burton Church of England Primary School Alison Timmings said: “The intention was to bring a smile to our children and families and it certainly seems to have done that.

"We have received lovely comments on the Burton School Association (BSA) Facebook page and some even took the time to email into the school office to say how much they and their children had appreciated and enjoyed the video.

"Sarah Colbourne emailed me after seeing some of the comments to say ‘How lovely, but most of all I’m so pleased that it had the effect I hoped it would, to make our families smile and know that we are still here.’"

Although the school closed as part of the national lockdown over four weeks ago, Burton Primary School has remained open to support the children of keyworkers, with school staff working on a rota basis to limit social contact.

Alison added: “As headteacher, I am incredibly proud of Burton School. We have worked hard to be part of the community and to build a school where everyone matters.

“The staff have a real heart for the children and families that we serve, and they have shown this in spades during this current situation.

“They live out our Core Christian Values of Compassion, Friendship and Reverence in a very real way.”
