FRONTLINE health staff battling the coronavirus at Bournemouth Hospital received a donation of vital PPE equipment - from the Osbournes.
Rock star Ozzy, his wife Sharon and daughter Kelly sent the package to NHS workers in the red area of the emergency department for coronavirus at the hospital.
The package included 15 sparkly designer facemasks sent by Kelly, who is friends with NHS healthcare worker Lorraine Knott.
The masks were designed by Emmy Award winning costume designer Perry Meek and were sent to Lorraine within a week of her and Kelly discussing the masks.
Lorraine said: "Everyone was really happy when I brought them in. The rest of our shift was such a laugh and the masks really boosted everyone's morale. It was really lovely.
"We obviously can't use them when we treat patients, but when the patients see us wearing them it really cheers them up."
The dazzling masks brought much-needed joy and laughter into the ward, for patients and staff alike, despite the challenging circumstances they all currently face.
Lorraine explained: "Working in the red area of the ED is challenging, but we all do our bit and it's worth it. We all work well together as a team and the masks got everyone buzzing."
The masks weren't the only thing that made the healthcare workers happy, as Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne's addition to the gift package was greatly appreciated by staff.
The couple donated a variety of caps and t-shirts for the staff to wear, providing them with some clean clothes to look forward to changing into once their shift finishes.
Although Lorraine and her fellow healthcare workers are unable to wear Kelly's sparkly masks while working, they provide some comfortable relief from their usual PPE.
Lorraine explained the impact of wearing a protective mask for 11 hours: "We wear the masks all day and night so they hurt behind our ears. We can't take our masks off, apart from when we're on a break. Kelly's masks are really soft and comfortable, but we can't wear them when working."
She added: "Our hospital is protecting us and we always have PPE. The hospital wouldn't let us work if we didn't. The sisters and doctors are always checking to make sure we're wearing PPE and that we're safe."
On April 20, Kelly posted pictures on her Instagram of Lorraine and her colleagues wearing the sparkly masks and expressed her gratitude for their hard work.
Kelly said: " I can’t tell you all enough just how much this warms my heart. I’m so happy that I could add a touch of sparkle to these heroes fighting to save our lives on the front lines. Thank you @lenniemummabearnhs and everyone on your team, as well as the NHS for all that you are doing to keep us safe. I love you so much!"
Mask designer Perry added: "When Kelly reached out to help her friend in the U.K who works in the NHS how could I say no? Everyone needs a friend like her, and may ALL our healthcare workers around the world stay safe at this awful time, you are all heroes."
