WEAPONS and drugs were discovered at a Bournemouth home after police spotted drug dealers operating in the street.

A stun gun, knives, cash, class A drugs and stolen property were among items seized from a property in Castlemain Avenue, in Southbourne.

Stolen goods included items stolen from cars in the area in recent weeks. Police have already returned some of the items to their owners.

The discovery on Tuesday afternoon was part of an operation by the Bournemouth East Neighbourhood Policing Team.

The team stepped up patrols in the area after complaints from residents about drug dealing and anti-social behaviour.

They were conducting a so-called hot spot patrol when they spotted a drug deal.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: “At around 4pm on Tuesday April 21 officers reported witnessing a suspected drug deal in the area of Castlemain Avenue in Bournemouth.

“A subsequent search was carried out at an address in the road and a quantity of suspected class A drugs were recovered as well as cash and weapons including knives and an electrical stun device.

“Officers also recovered a number of items that were had been previously reported as stolen from vehicles in the Bournemouth area.”

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a class A drugs, possessing a firearm and theft.

He has since been released under investigation as inquiries continue.

Now police have urged the public to contact them with any information about drug-related crime.

The spokesman continued: “Dorset Police recognises the impact class A drugs and drug-related activity has on our communities and we would urge anyone with information relating to the suspected supply of illegal drugs to contact us.”
