The crew from Verwood were called to the Woodlands area of the town at 10.30pm on Thursday.
The stem flow from the tank a special putty was used that is resistant to oil.
In order to mitigate further damage to the environment, the crew then decanted 600 litres of oil into special drums.
Support was provided by the environmental support unit from Romsey in Hampshire.
Crews left the scene at around 2.30am on Friday.
