Police had been alerted to a report of a possible drink driver in Fitzharris Avenue on Monday evening.

An officer for Dorset Police's road traffic unit said they located an Audi A7 and the driver was arrested for failing roadside breath tests. It was reported that he also tested positive for cannabis and cocaine.

While searching the vehicle they found a detailed imitation fire arm and a lock knife, which were both seized.

The officer said: "The gun was checked by officers from the firearms unit and found to be a BB gun."
