A MAN has avoided an immediate jail term after admitting sending two inappropriate voice recording messages.

John Paul Thomas Thompson, aged 28 and of Turbary Park Avenue, Bournemouth, appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, April 22.

He admitted sending two voice recordings that were grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character the day before his appearance in court.

District judge Stephen Nicholls committed Thompson to prison for 12 weeks suspended for 12 months.

He was also issued with a restraining order and instructed to pay £100 compensation and £85 costs.
