TOUCHING tributes have been paid to a “passionate and loving” mum-of-five who lost her battle with cancer aged 33.
Hayley Davies Bateman fought aggressive breast cancer for two years before making a dying wish for friends and family to take care of her young children, aged between three and eight.
The devoted mum spent much of her life in Bournemouth, attending Epiphany Primary and Avonbourne schools.
Her parents, Kim and Trish, ran the Broadway pub in Castle Lane West for 11 years from the mid-90s where she and her brother, Oliver, both worked. Both also worked at Castlepoint.
Hayley, who recently lived in Southampton, passed away on April 16 and now her children, Ellie, eight, Willow and Noah, five, Calla and Lukasz, three, are currently being looked after by her brother and parents.
Friends at her local church have set up a fundraising page with a target of £50,000 to get the youngsters “on their feet in the short-term and contribute to their longer-term needs as they grow up.”
Paying tribute to his daughter, her dad, Kim, said: “I held Hayley minutes after she was born and held her hand as the cancer finally took Hayley on the 16th of April after a long two year fight.
“She was an amazing loving mother to all her five children from their birth through to her passing away. Even when she was no longer able to walk or eat because of this horrendous illness she still had time for a kiss and cuddle for each one at bedtime.”
Hayley’s brother, Oliver added: “We miss her every day and have been bowled over by how much affection she had. She had so much love to give her children.”
Close friend Naomi Dawson said Hayley, a former teaching assistant, asked her friends to set up the fund to raise money and help ease their worries.
Naomi, 41, added: “Knowing we would be doing this one small thing to help, gave her comfort in her last days. She was a fighter. She was passionate, loved her family and wanted the best future for her kids.”
The charity worker added: “Please help and donate if you can. Even if you can afford only a small amount, it all adds up to a brighter, more secure future for Hayley’s family.”
Hayley was diagnosed in 2018. Despite surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, the disease spread.
