MYSTERIOUS tiny doors keep appearing across Poor Common in West Parley, brightening up people's daily walks.
The 15 hectare site has been adorned with variously decorated fairy doors, a fun activity started by Zoe Laver and her daughter Sophia, aged seven.
Their creative crafts began when they decorated their cherry blossom tree for Easter.
Zoe decided to take it one step further and hid personally decorated eggs around Poor Common for fellow families and passers-by to enjoy while out on their daily exercise.
Since Easter, Zoe and Sophia have been beavering away making fairy doors for their home and Poor Common.
Zoe said: "The aim of the eggs and fairy doors is to encourage children to explore when they're out. We initially made the fairy doors for Sophia's fairy garden and now there's loads in the Common. All of the kids are really enjoying it.
"It's so nice to hear and see their excitement when they find one."
Despite looking extremely realistic, the fairy doors only require one key material: lolly sticks.
Natural resources such as twigs and moss are used to help the doors blend in with nature, and paint is the perfect final touch for many.
This easy yet fun activity has been taken up by hundreds of local residents and the dedicated Facebook page for the fairy doors boasts over 300 members.
Members and non-members alike love seeing the various fairy doors around the Common, particularly appreciative of the local touch.
Zoe explained: "The doors are a combination of mine and my daughter's ideas. I really wanted to make local fairy doors for the kids to recognise, so we have our local Tesco, hairdressers, Parley First School, Ferndown Fire Station and more. Sophia focused on fairytales and Star Wars at the request of her dad."
Although Zoe thoroughly enjoys making the doors herself, her favourite part of the experience is seeing other people's joy.
She said: "I love seeing all the kids being excited at finding a door or hiding one themselves. Spending time with Sophia and exploring her imagination is also really important."
There are currently 144 fairy doors scattered around Poor Common that will remain in the Common until lockdown is over so people can continue to enjoy them.
Once lockdown is over, Zoe and a group of friends will go and collect all the doors.
