A MAJOR project to overhaul the public facilities at Lymington Quay has been deferred.
The scheme, which is being worked on by New Forest District Council, Lymington and Pennington Town Council, and Lymington Harbour Commissioners, had been progressing in the early months of 2020.
However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the authorities have agreed to pause the project to focus resources on slowing the spread of the virus and providing key services to the community.
The development plans include looking at improvements to the toilets, showers, and public areas adjacent to the car park.
The project will be reviewed once the restrictions relating to coronavirus are lifted to see if it would be appropriate at that time to either defer for a further period, or to recommence the project.
A New Forest District Council spokesperson said: "All partners remain committed to ongoing discussions on this important project when the time is right."
