A LYMINGTON man has been given a suspended prison sentence after pleading guilty to two counts of theft.
Robert James Boyt, 30, of Lower Buckland Road entered Tesco Metro in Lymington High Street and tried to steal steak and whisky on April 16.
He attempted the leaving the store with six steaks and two bottles of Jack Daniels worth £127.97 but was stopped outside by staff.
Then, on April 26, Boyt stole meat products from Marks and Spencer, worth £120.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of theft and was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months.
Boyt was also given a nine month drug referral order and an exclusion order that prohibits him from entering all Tesco stores or Marks and Spencer stores in the UK.
He was also ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £122 victim surcharge.
