A CAR was engulfed in flames moments after the occupants managed to scramble out of the vehicle.
The vehicle was travelling along Gore Road in New Milton yesterday evening when the blaze began.
A Police Community Support Officer and a colleague were on patrol in the area when they saw the car on fire.
Writing on social media they said: "We were out and about on bikes, as part of our patrols regarding anti-social behaviour and making sure people are complying with Coronavirus Act restrictions, which we were pleased to say, the vast majority were doing.
"During the course of the evening, we noticed a large black plume of smoking coming from Gore Road and came across a vehicle on fire.
"All occupants had left the vehicle before it became enveloped in flames. An appliance from New Milton Fire Station were on scene not long after and extinguished the fire."
The officers said they noticed several vehicles which were clearly exceeding the speed limit.
"Several drivers were educated about their driving style and we'll be seeing if we can get speed enforcement teams down in order to prevent serious accidents from poor driving."
