PLANS have been put forward to install a new zebra crossing outside a Bournemouth school.

BCP Council's traffic management team has launched a public consultation on its proposals to build the pedestrian crossing in Broadway Lane, near the entrance for Muscliff Primary School.

The plans show it would be built between the main entrance to the school and the turning for Shillingstone Road.

In 2017, the Daily Echo reported on a parent's call for improved road safety outside Muscliff Primary School after her eight-year-old son was knocked down by a car and hit his head on the road.

At the time parents and staff were campaigning for action to be taken to prevent further incidents.

Residents have until May 29 to submit their views on the planned controlled crossing. More details can be found at bournemouth.gov.uk/highwayconsultations
