A SMALL seahorse was discovered at Sandbanks earlier this month.
Former Marine Biologist Daniel Wronski discovered the seahorse tangled in fishing line in a seagrass bed while doing his daily exercise on May 6.
Daniel spotted the mature female spiny seahorse of the Hippocampus guttulatus species due to the low tide in the late afternoon.
The Seahorse Trust confirmed the species for Daniel and it has now been added to their database.
He said: "Even though I'm Australian and a former Marine Biologist, I have never seen this species before which was exciting. I understand the importance of their conservation.
"It was so great to see a healthy seahorse so close to a developed area getting ready to breed. I believe the lockdown regulations are to thank for this as it has enabled the ecosystem to recover a bit."
