TWO Dorset schools have been rated ‘good’ by Ofsted in their latest reports.
The Stable School, which opened in September 2019, provides education for pupils ages six to 16 who have struggled elsewhere.
The report said pupils love the Christchurch school and attend well.
It said: “They feel valued and cared for. Leaders put pupils at the heart of what they do.
“In a short amount of time, leaders have established a school with a strong family feel.”
The report also stated that, to improve, leaders need to implement long-term curriculum plans and staff need training so they can help pupils know and remember milestones in their learning.
Elsewhere, Parley First School has been rated ‘good’ as pupils “value the positive relationships that they share with staff”.
The report said: “Bullying is rare and only happens very occasionally.
“Pupils try hard in everything they do, behave well and are keen to learn.”
To improve, the school needs to ensure more pupils achieve well, including in core subjects of writing and mathematics.
According to the report, pupils’ reading fluency is underdeveloped so leaders need to ensure they receive opportunities to rehearse and practice their reading skills.
