DRIVERS with illegal number plates have been warned they will be stopped by police.
The offence itself is described as low level with a £100 fine.
But officers from the Dorset Police No Excuse team said it is often related to other offences.
Officers who stopped a vehicle and trailer due to number plate offences on Saturday discovered the vehicle had no tax.
"We are amazed when drivers have other things wrong and they draw attention to themselves" said a spokesman for No Excuse. "If it's legal we won't be drawn to it."
