LITTER was left strewn across the sand after thousands of people descended on Bournemouth’s beaches yesterday.
Matthew Thurgood captured the above footage showing the state of the beach at 9.30pm last night which has been widely shared on social media.
Beer cans, bottles, boxes and plastic bags were left behind by daytrippers who flocked to the coast on what was the hottest day of the year so far.
Photographer Matt Pinner captured the disappointing scenes on the beach at 4.30am this morning.
A number of tents could also be seen on the sand despite camping on the beaches not being allowed.
Bournemouth litter picking group also went out on Wednesday evening to carry out a litter pick and urged visitors to take responsibility for their litter.
One huge party on Bournemouth Beach today. Very little social distancing, total free for all and littering galore. Litter picked on the cliff top and beach at 7:30-9pm. @BCPCouncil some bins were half empty at the Pier. No excuses #lovewhereyoulive @Tobias_Ellwood @vikki4mdnp pic.twitter.com/6K7po9lDeS

Visitors flock to Dorset
There have been countless reports of people behaving badly at Bournemouth beach - parking irresponsibly and illegally, littering, urinating, jumping off the pier. Traffic was also gridlocked.
