Jeff Mostyn is the current chairman of AFC Bournemouth. He has witnessed the club's meteoritic rise from the depths of league division two through to the pinnacle of English football, the Premier League. Jeff is also a proud patron of Dorset Cancer Care Foundation, a charity which gives financial help to Dorset residents and their families affected by cancer.

What would be your perfect day out in Dorset?

The day would start with a victory at the Vitality Stadium and finish with a celebratory meal with my wife Rose.

What are your fondest memories of the county?

Understandably my fondest memories involve my passion for football and my charity work. To this day, I vividly recall the open top bus tour of Bournemouth following our promotion to the Premier League. Seeing 80,000 people lining the streets and spilling over onto the beach was an experience I will never forget. Our promotion brought so much pride to the community. My work as patron of Dorset Cancer Care Foundation is hard to put into words. Raising the profile of the charity and raising money to help those suffering from cancer and their families, puts life in football into perspective.

It gives me so much joy to be in such a privileged position to be able to significantly help others.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

To be chairman of such a wonderful community football club, that has inspired and helped so many people in the county. Our Community Sports trust, and Cherries Trust and charity partners, we help people from all walks of life, supporting, schools, hospitals, and hospices. There is far more to the club than playing in the Premier League. In addition, having left school at 15 with no qualifications, receiving an Honorary Doctorate from Bournemouth University was such a proud moment for me and my family.

I am inspired by my wife Rose and my family who have been by my side throughout the incredible journey. Their support especially in the dark early days inspired me to continue in the face of adversity.

What would be your favourite thing to do when you have a day off?

I find it very difficult taking a day off, but a long walk along our incredible coastline would be an ideal time to reflect.

Where is your favourite place to eat in the county?

I love 1805 Chinese Restaurant.

What three things do you associate with Dorset?

The miles upon miles of Golden sands, the magnificent Jurassic coastline now a UNESCO Natural World Heritage site, and I am reliably informed that if you live in Dorset, you are likely to live two years longer than the average in the UK, now that’s worth a top three entry!
