DORSET has been announced as one of the country’s favourite Staycation destinations, a survey has found.
Holiday comparison site My Late Deals surveyed 1,500 people and found that Dorset was the fourth most popular location after Cornwall, Devon and Cumbria.
Within Dorset, Weymouth was found to be the most commonly named destination in Dorset, followed by Bournemouth, Poole and Swanage.
Three UK holiday parks were identified in the survey. Center Parcs came out on top, followed by Butlins and then Ribby Hall.
Bournemouth has also been found to have good staycation potential as it has one of the top rental yields for a buy-to-let properties near the coast, new figures show.
According to lettings management platform Howsy, Bournemouth ranked 12th in the most popular coastal staycations locations with an average rental yield of 3.9 per cent.
However the Dorset town is below the national average of 4.1 per cent and a lot less than Brighton, who came out on top among coastal locations with a rental yield of 6 per cent.
