FROM excellent food fried in groundnut oil to friendly staff and a collection service it is little surprise Sunny’s Fish and Chips in Boscombe was nominated as our Trader of the Week!
Since it opened in April 1990 near Boscombe Chine Gardens on Christchurch Road, Sunny’s has secured a long and loyal following and after receiving your nominations for this chippy, it is easy to see why.
And Sunny’s cooks in groundnut oil, which is considered the gold standard for frying tasty food.
Sunny’s regular Joanne said: “The staff go above and beyond to make every customer happy and cook their order exactly how they like it. Nothing is to much
trouble!”
Manager of Sunny’s, Stacey Winter said: “We cook fish and chips, burgers, sausages and peafritters. Fish and chips and our burgers are very popular. Also, our home-made peafritters go down very well
“I think our customer are loyal because of the experience they have when they come here. All the staff are friendly and helpful and we cook in the best groundnut oil which makes everything taste better and not greasy.”
Over the course of the pandemic and during lockdown, Sunny’s remained open with reduced hours and saw a surge in their customer numbers.
Stacey said: “We have been quite lucky during Covid19 because we managed to stay open although we had to reduce our hours, but, apart from that we have done okay. In fact we saw an increase in customer numbers, especially during the hot weather when it gets very busy - however, this is the way we like it!”
Sunny’s adapted to the pandemic and placed a number of measures to adhere to
government guidelines and keep people safe, most notably allowing a limited number of customers in the shop at the same time, hand gel and sanitisers are stationed at the door and a popular collection service allows diners to pick up their food with limited waiting times.
Stacey said: “The customers don’t mind waiting longer because they know they are going to get great food.We offer a collection service but we don’t deliver and people are able to pre-order over the phone.We love everything about our shop from the hard working staff the all our loyal customers, so thank you for nominating us for Trader of the Week!”.
