Daily Echo reader Bob Rising sent some fantastic photos of the last Aqua Show to be held at the Bournemouth Swimming Baths on the Pier Approach in 1984. The baths which opened on March 23, 1937 had many changes over the years but when opened consisted of a swimming pool, 40 private baths, a Mikvah bath for the Jewish community, Turkish baths, a sunbathing facility, terrace and solarium with sun ray lamp equipment. In 1949 the baths started to preforming water shows attracting over 100,000 visitors over the 154 performances in the second season. The Aqua Shows became a much loved part of the summer entertainment offering in Bournemouth. In June 1984, the baths were broken into and the control box set on fire. An ex-employee with a grudge was later jailed for two years over the incident. The baths closed later that year.
