Crime in Bournemouth plummeted during April as we all stayed inside due to the global pandemic.
As a result of the the country being in lockdown, Bournemouth saw reported crime drop by more than half in comparison to the same period a year ago.
Through analysising data from police.uk, the Echo are able to bring you a side by side comparison of crime data during April this year, compared to April 2019.
Anti-social behaviour and violence and sexual offences were still the highest recorded however the incidents of reported crimes significantly reduced.
There was a dramatic decline in reported cases of violence and sexual offences with the number decreasing by more than 1,000.
From the data, it is clear to see that shoplifting reports also saw a dramatic downward turn due to non-essential shops being closed.
The data also shows the number of reported burglaries decrease during lockdown potentially because everyone was remaining in their properties.
