THE identity of a body has been revealed after a search was launched to find a missing jet skier last week.
Police have formally identified that the jet skier that disappeared after leaving Lymington on August 5 is of 33-year-old Elezaj Shkelzen.
The discovery of his body was made at Ryde Pier, at the Isle of Wight, at around 11am on Monday.
Mr Shkelzen, 33, from Oxfordshire, was travelling from Lymington to Langstone Harbour when he went missing.
As reported in the Daily Echo, a major air and sea search was launched after his jet-ski was found drifting off Stokes Bay, Gosport.
The white-and-burgundy Yamaha Waverunner, with a ‘201 Langstone Harbour’ sticker, had its kill-cord detached, and a mobile phone was also on board.
The body was found following a joint operation involving Hampshire police, the coastguard rescue helicopter from Lee-on-the-Solent and the Hill Head Coastguard Rescue Team.
A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: "Elezaj's family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
"His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
"Thank you to everyone who shared our appeal and assisted in the search for Elezaj."
