YO! Sushi has announced it is closing the doors of its Bournemouth restaurant for good.

However, there are still a number of places for sushi lovers to get their fix across Bournemouth.

Here are five of the best sushi eateries in the area according to Tripadvisor.

1. Sushi & Roll, Westover Road

Opening times: 12pm until 8pm Thursdays and Sundays, 12pm until 9pm Fridays and Saturdays

Prices range between £2 and £9.

This casual eatery is described as serving the “best sushi in Bournemouth” according to one happy customer.

Dishes include nigiri sushi, hosomaki and maki with a host of specials to choose from, too, plus dumplings, tempura and spring rolls.

It has 124 ‘excellent’ reviews with one customer saying it was the best sushi they’d ever had.

2. Nippon Inn, Charminster Road

Opening times: 1pm to 4pm and 6pm to 10.30pm Tuesday to Saturday

The Japanese restaurant comes highly recommended on Tripadvisor with 171 ‘excellent’ reviews out of 290 in total.

Dishes on the main menu include maki sushi, nigiri and sashimi, plus a number of meat, vegetarian, rice and seafood offerings.

One customer said: “I love the Nippon inn and have been many times over the years. I love the Nigiri and Maki sushi/Katsu curry and Ramen! The food and service is always consistent and it’s such great value. Every time we get the bill the cost is less than we guessed! Forget Wagamama’s or YO Sushi! I will always recommend the Nippon Inn to friends and family.”

3. Miya Japanese Restaurant, Poole Road, Westbourne

Opening times: 12pm to 2.30pm and 5.30pm to 10.30pm Tuesday to Saturday and 5.30pm to 10.30pm on Mondays

Princes range from £3 to £18.

There’s a lot on the menu to tempt serious sushi connoisseurs including soft shell crab roll, golden salmon roll, BBQ roll and even duck foie gras roll.

It has 65 ‘excellent’ reviews out of 106 in total. 

One diner said: “We visited with friends - by accident as were just looking for somewhere good to eat. This was a great find. There is a wide selection of interesting food and we all loved our choices. My sushi was brilliant. The staff were excellent too.”

4. Shark Tail Sushi, Christchurch Road, Boscombe

Opening times: 12pm to 10pm Monday to Sunday

Prices range from £4 to £15

Diners can choose from a host of vegetarian and fish offerings including crispy veggie maki, unagi tempura maki and tekka salmon maki.

Currently available as collection only or through Deliveroo.

One customer said: “Amazing experience. Best sushi I've ever had. A fantastic experience... Fresh and high quality ingredients prepared with passion, competence and style. Highly recommended.”

5. Drgnfly, Bournemouth Road, Poole

Opening times: 4pm to 9pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday, 12.30pm to 9.30pm Thursday to Saturday

Prices range from £9 to £30.

OK, so it's not in Bournemouth but this “Pan-Asian” restaurant has a whopping 216 ‘excellent’ reviews out of 283.

Dishes include spider roll, California roll and the red dragon roll which is described as the restaurant’s “signature lobster sushi roll”.

One diner said: “Wonderful range of different Asian food, beautifully prepared and served. Excellent service from friendly staff. Busy, so book well in advance.”
