POLICE have confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances following the discovery of a body in the sea at Old Harry Rocks.
Emergency services were alerted by a member of the public just after 9am on Saturday.
The body was recovered and the coroner informed.
The identity of the person has not been released as next of kin are yet to be informed.
Police, coastguards and RNLI crews were called just after 9am on Saturday and the body recovered an hour later.
A spokesman for Swanage lifeboat said: "The Inshore Lifeboat(ILB) launched and headed to the scene along with Swanage and St Albans Coastguard, the coastguard rescue helicopter and Dorset Police. The casualty was recovered to the shore to be assessed whilst the ILB returned out to sea to collect the winchman paramedic from the helicopter.
"Sadly the paramedic declared the casualty as deceased so the casualty was taken aboard the ILB, taken back to the lifeboat station and handed over to officers from Dorset Police. Our thoughts are with the casualty’s family and friends."
