Traditionally, the country’s leading salons and barbershops were all in the West End of London - not anymore.

Based in the South of England, Bond’s barbers have made the finals in not one, but five categories in the national Modern Barber Awards – more than any other UK barber company. The Modern Barber Awards, is the industry’s only dedicated award platform to celebrate creative and commercial success.

Bond’s have been shortlisted for Best Team, Best Apprentice, Best Interior and Best Client Experience in the UK’s premier barbering awards. Bonds Barbers are ruffling the quiffs and French Crops of the country’s top Mayfair barbers – many of which charge hundreds of pounds for a haircut.

With shops in Bournemouth, Broadstone, Lymington, Poole, Wareham, Westbourne and Winchester, Bonds have built their successful business on creating a chain of friendly, stylish, comfortable and affordable barbershops that deliver high-crafted haircuts for men and boys.

Not only is owner Mike celebrating with his barbershop brand - Bond’s, but he is also hoping to be celebrating in style with his barbering training academy - Mike Taylor Education, as they are also up for the award of Best Training.

Based in Poole, Mike Taylor Education offers private NVQ training as well as apprenticeship training to budding barbers and hairdressers across the South Coast and further afield. As the current winners, the Mike Taylor Education team are hoping for repeat success.

Bonds owner and leading barbering educator Mike Taylor is really proud of the team and their joint achievements.

“To be nominated in one category against all the top London shops would have been great, but in five - it’s amazing,” said Mike.

Co-owner of Bond’s Wareham - Lee Dixon added: “Especially pleasing is that it shows how well we’re doing in different areas of the business.

“The success of Bonds is very much a team effort and I’m very proud of all the guys.”

Bournemouth Echo:

Like all barbershops, Bonds has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, but the owners were determined to look after all their staff. The shops reopened after lockdown with a huge investment in equipment and a range of health and safety measures in place to ensure they follow industry and public health guidelines.

“It’s been a really tough time,” said Lisa Aplin, co-owner of Bond’s Winchester, “but we’ve worked hard to make sure all our guys have been kept on. We’re now open again, with lots of measures in place to keep everyone safe."

Adam Joy, co-owner of Bond’s added: “I must say a huge thank you to all our customers. You don’t realise how much it means to see you back in the shops; we really appreciate your support.”

Bournemouth Echo:

Due to the current pandemic, the awards final is now due to take place virtually on the December 7.
