A PLATINUM ring lost on Bournemouth beach five years ago will be returned to its owner following a public appeal.
BCP Council released an image of the ring this morning after it was discovered by council workers excavating a timber groyne.
They asked the owner to come forward, stressing they must be able to tell them what its inscription says to be able to claim it.
It was published on the Daily Echo website and on Facebook and Twitter.
This afternoon a spokesman for BCP Council said: "We are delighted to say that with all your help and the power of social media we believe we have now located the owner of the ring found by our timber groyne excavation team.
"Amazingly, the ring was lost around five years ago by a visitor to the area. Thanks to everyone for sharing this so widely."
