This fabulous restaurant commands one of the most beautiful vistas in Dorset and simply could not be more conveniently situated being just a two-minute walk from the pier and town centre.

The building has been cleverly designed to make the very most of the Jurassic Coastline with the landscape being visible for every diner to appreciate.

Along with the spacious restaurant there is also a large, comfy outside seating area which is slightly elevated to make the most of the panoramic scenery.

We arrived quite early on a Thursday evening and were immediately given a warm greeting by the staff who showed us to a lovely table adjacent to the window (which we were so preoccupied looking out of that we almost forgot to choose from the menu!) Before our starters, we were served with amuse-bouche of tomato and basil soup served with gruyere crouton which apparently is a typical French tradition and is meant to be a 'token of the chef's gratitude that you've put your dining experience into his skilled hands' - a lovely (very French) sentiment!

Reg Pielesz, who has been running the restaurant since opening some three and a half years ago, explained that this was something he intended to do a lot more, especially incorporating some amuse-bouche ideas for BB's Christmas menu.

Reg was also on hand to suggest our wine choices and as the Brasserie has such a wide selection, his extensive knowledge was much appreciated.

The variable menu offers a good and original selection of aperitifs and nibbles, starters, mains and seasonal desserts and the prime chargrilled Cornish steaks are sourced from Aubrey Allen, who just happens to be our very own Queen Elizabeth's butcher, thus ensuring the best, ethically reared, grass-fed British beef.

Bournemouth Echo:

But we were tempted by the whole dressed Brixham crab and Loch Fyne grilled salmon fillet, served with a 'Choron' sauce and mixed leaves and was delicious.

And of course there is always room for dessert, so we opted for a BB classic – the pistachio souffle with a rich chocolate ice cream and the chocolate fondant with spiced orange a d passion fruit sauce, both of which were delightful and the perfect end to our meal.

BB's dining experience is exactly what you would expect from the master chef, Raymond Blanc, who is a regular visitor to the Bournemouth restaurant and, according to Reg, a very nice man.

The restaurant has also taken every precaution to be Covid safe and reassuring leaflets are on every table pointing out the safety measures the Brasserie has put in place. These include single use menus, a one-way system within the restaurant and all staff are Covid trained and temperature checked before each shift.

The sectioning off of the tables has also been tastefully done, matching the oak flooring and very much in keeping with the restaurant's stylish decor.

BB is open seven days per week and also serves an extensive breakfast and brunch menu consisting of the same high quality and seasonal ingredients – exquisite French cuisine in the heart of Bournemouth.
