She has been an internationally acclaimed opera singer for the last 25 years, but Sophia Grech knows only too well about overcoming adversity.
The West Dorset-based mezzo-soprano has performed at leading concert halls, opera houses and international festivals worldwide, leading to regular invitations to give masterclasses around the globe.
She now also works as as ambassador for both national and international autistic organisations which support and help other individuals with the condition, after being diagnosed herself in 2015 and speaking out about her experiences living with autism.
In 2017, Sophia was made an ambassador for Dorset charity Autism Wessex, alongside football manager and Sandbanks resident Harry Redknapp.
Sophia's latest project also aims to offer support and guidance to others – but this time she is focusing on sharing the secrets of her artistry, with a book entitled I Wish I Could Sing.
She describes the book as "a learning aid for people who want to understand how to develop their singing voice and improve their ability".
Published by Olympia, the title is now available to buy online through a number of well-known book retailers, and has already received positive, five-star reviews.
"The book is written in a simple step-by-step easy to follow guide and appeals to all," says Sophia, who graduated from the Royal College of Music in 1995.
"It has been the culmination of many years of hard work and I am delighted that it has been published and is now available for general release."
The publication is aimed at burgeoning and amateur singers and vocalists looking to improve their singing voice and boost their confidence in their ability, featuring useful tips and exercises as well as information on how to get started and become the talented singer you have always wished to be.
"With the notion that the voice is a natural instrument, with practice, it can be taught and perfected," explains Sophia.
"So, for all the budding vocalists out there, what are you waiting for? Your strong, powerful voice awaits."
I Wish I Could Sing, by Sophia Grech is published by Olympia Publishers, paperback £4.99 mezzo-soprano-sophia-grech.co.uk
