THERE have been more than 60 new Covid cases recorded in the BCP Council area, according to the latest government update.

The Department of Health and Social Care website shows 106 cases of the virus were recorded across Dorset in the 24-hours up to 4pm on Wednesday, December 23.

In the BCP area, 63, new cases were reported, bringing the total number of positive cases since the start of the pandemic to 8,522.

Meanwhile, in the Dorset Council area 43 cases have been reported in the same period.

Since March 3,939 cases have been confirmed.

The number of cases in the BCP area over the latest rolling seven-day period is 615, with a rate of 155.6 per 100,000 people.

In Dorset 307 cases have been confirmed in the last past seven days. The case rate is 81.1.

In the New Forest there were 26 new cases. The total in the district since the pandemic started is 2,289.

A total of 188 cases have been seen in the past seven days and the case rate is 104.4.
