POLICE using a Stinger device stopped a suspect vehicle after a pursuit across the New Forest.
Officers were supported by colleagues from the National Police Air Support after the driver of a van seen in the Breamore area refused to stop.
The vehicle was finally stopped on the opposite side of the Forest.
Officers converged on Cadnam and brought the vehicle to a halt with the aid of a Stinger, which punctured its tyres.
The driver was arrested after allegedly testing positive for cocaine.
Social media users in the area have reported seeing a police helicopter circling above homes in the Bartley area at 10.55pm on New Year's Eve.
The helicopter is believed to have left the area just before midnight.
