CHRISTCHURCH MP Christopher Chope asked if prime minister Boris Johnson would allow gatherings of vaccinated people so his constituents could celebrate Brexit.
In the House of Commons, Sir Chope said: “Can I ask what the public health justification is for criminalising gatherings held exclusively between those who have already been vaccinated for more than three weeks when there is no risk of infection or transmission.
“Will my right honourable friend use his libertarian extinct and immediately introduce an exemption for such gatherings so that for many people in my constituency will be able to celebrate Brexit sooner rather than later?”
In response, prime minister Boris Johnson said: “His iron logic is, of course applied to the restrictions we’ve been forced to bring in.
“All I can say, Mr Speaker, I think most members across this House understand, is that the whys and wherefores of each restriction are not necessarily susceptible to iron logic but they are there to protect the public and I believe the public understand that.”
